Independent rural retailers are the backbone of Australian farming communities. AIRR’s focus is to support them.
We service rural retailers across Australia, in a host of enterprise types, including broadacre cropping and livestock, horticulture and pet & produce… and, because we’re always innovating, our team is developing new markets.
AIRR is essentially a member-based buying group that wholesales. Our industry-topping financial performance means market-leading returns to members. As a public, unlisted company, only members and staff can be shareholders, but stores don’t have to be members to buy from AIRR: our sole focus is to support independent retailers — no matter their size.
Every AIRR customer buys at the same price, whether it’s one tin or one semi-load. That, our focus on warehousing, and the fact we deal with known, top quality products, are major strengths in supporting independent rural stores.
AIRR also supports these businesses with services programmes. We regularly run conferences and training workshops, plus also offer group buying schemes for insurance and other business needs.
In line with AIRR’s philosophy of supporting independent retail businesses, our head office is in the heart of Victoria’s Goulburn Valley, while our warehouses stretch across rural Australia: Wagga Wagga, Bungendore, Tamworth, Rocklea, Port Adelaide and Shepparton. We’ll continue adding to these, as our network expands.
AIRR was formed in January 2006 by Peter Law, a well-known and respected identity in rural Victoria, with a 30-plus-year career in rural wholesaling and retailing under his belt. Peter is part of a five-member board that has directed this innovative company to lead the independent sector. AIRR has upwards of 120 members who own 200 stores. The total number of stores who buy from AIRR is four times that, but it’s a number which keeps growing as independent rural retailers across Australia realise they can retain their strength through AIRR.
